Some guests check in and you know right away they're not like the others. The Blue Face Koi Scopas Tang is one of those rare arrivals — a stunning aberrant color morph of the common Scopas Tang, splashed with patches of cream, gold, and dark chocolate in that unmistakable "koi" patterning, finished off with the signature electric blue facial mask that gives this variant its name.
No two are ever marked the same. Each fish carries its own splash pattern, making every one a true one-of-a-kind centerpiece for the right tank. Koi morphs like this one are believed to be the result of a genetic quirk or possible hybridization, and they're far rarer than the standard brown form.
THIS IS A WYSIWYG --
Scopas Tangs are primarily herbivores in the wild, grazing on filamentous algae and detritus across the reef. In captivity they're enthusiastic eaters and generally not picky once settled in.
The Scopas Tang (Zebrasoma scopas) is one of the hardiest and most personable members of the Zebrasoma family — easier-going than its Yellow Tang cousin, and a strong algae grazer once settled in.
