Nitrofurazone is the no-nonsense antibiotic for external bacterial infections — fin rot, body sores, gill problems — where you can SEE the problem on the fish. Pure yellow-orange powder that hits both gram-positive and gram-negative, so it does not matter what is growing on the fin, it will clear. The classic companion to kanamycin when you want full-spectrum coverage in a hospital tank.
Active ingredient: nitrofurazone. Standard QT dose for 10 days with partial water changes. Stains plastic and silicone yellow — accept it. Will affect biological filtration. Pairs with kanamycin for combined gram-positive and gram-negative coverage. For exact dosing per gallon, see the Antibiotics tab on our Medication Dosing Calculator.
Treats: fin rot, body fungus, external bacterial infections, columnaris, body sores.
Use in: quarantine or hospital tank only.
